President-Elect Obama

When it comes to President-Elect Obama, Americans seem to think that because he campaigned for change, those changes are going to happen over-night. What society seems to forget is that President Bush spent eight years running this country deeper and deeper in the hole. Change is going to come, change is something I believe President-Elect Obama will follow through with. In all honesty, I think that change will take just as long as it took President Bush to run us into the ground.

Take Wall Street for example. Wall Street has the funds to bail themselves out, yet Americans all over the U.S. don't have the funds to prevent their homes from foreclosing and potentially becoming homeless. Who gets a bail-out? The millions of adults across the U.S. that have families to feed and provide for? Or the investors? Take the war in Iraq for example. What was the reason we went into Iraq in the first place? With President Bush flip-flopping around, it's hard to remember the reason isn't it? It was to disable WMD. There wasn't WMD to disable, so what was next? Helping the Iraqi's establish a democracy of their own. Who are we to impose our political beliefs on a country that doesn't want us there? On a country we have no business being in?

Then came President Bush's big speech a couple years ago. I'm sorry about what has happened, but I never had a plan B. So we're stuck there because he led us into a false war and doesn't know how to get us out? President-Elect Obama is just the change this country needs. He may not have enough experience for some folks out there, but he obviously did something right if he's about to run the country. I think he will have quite possibly the hardest presidency of our day. But I do think change will come, and I do think the American public needs to understand it will take time -lots of time.
